Jill Haley - Quietude
Jill Haley - Quietude
QUIETUDE ~ Acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Jill Haley explores moods of serenity, beauty, and introspection as she takes listeners to Shenandoah National Park.
By now, instrumental music lovers know that Jill Haley is synonymous with musical intreptations of America's natural beauty. Back in 2010, Haley launched her series of National Park albums with the release of Glacier Soundscapes. Since then, she has traversed America as artist-in-residences at both well-known and less- visited Parks, drawing inspiration from their varied environments and abundance of beauty, charm, and even mystery. Her new release, Quietude, Music For Shenandoah Nation Park, features Haley taking a more subdued compositional approach, reflected in a gentler, more serene, mood. A few later tracks liven things up a little, e.g. the playful "Blue Ridge" but earlier songs, including the opening title track, flow with soothing melodies and evocative soundscape. Besides Haley's usual guests (husband David Cullen on guitar and bass, and son Graham Cullen on cello), Jack Bogard, a new additional to her list of collaborators, lends his talents on violin to the album and his impact is noteworthy.
