Artistic Director Matthew Guard leads a luminous Christmas program on Spotless, a festive release from Skylark Vocal Ensemble. Built around Hugo Distler's ethereal variations on Lo How a Rose, this recording ushers in the holiday season through Skylark's trademark virtuosity and warmth. Based on the critically acclaimed program Winter's Night, this newly re-mastered and substantially expanded album stands as a testament to Skylark's engrossing performances. Holiday choral classics sit alongside several world premiere recordings, including The Shepherd Girl by Ben Rowarth. Distler's seven variations on Lo How a Rose weave throughout the album, serving as a unifying stylistic thread throughout this celebratory new release.
