Bill Evans Trio - Across The Alps - Lugano & Pescara Concerts [RSD BF 2026]
Bill Evans Trio - Across The Alps - Lugano & Pescara Concerts [RSD BF 2026]
This release marks the first appearance of these historic trio performances by Bill Evans, recorded in Lugano, Switzerland, in 1967 and in Pescara, Italy, in 1969. Evans is joined by bassist Eddie Gomez on both recordings, with Arnie Wise and Marty Morell alternating on drums. The Lugano set offers a particularly rare opportunity to hear Wise’s interplay with Evans, as this trio configuration was seldom recorded.
Transferred from the original tape reels and restored and mastered by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab, this limited-edition 180-gram 2-LP set includes an extensive insert featuring rare photographs and liner notes by acclaimed jazz critic and author Marc Myers, along with statements by Marty Morell, Sylvie Courvoisier, and others.
